The turning point

Up until now I haven't had this conversation yet...

All of my friends who are now married were stories where you knew it was going to happen before they did, and when it did....the reaction was always the same.

"HOoooolly FINGGG shhhhhhIT..can you FING BELIEVE IT!!! they are geting FING MARRIED?!?!?!?!" (note vocabulary changes slightly with age...well depends who you talk about that subject with these days)

"Turning Point" by: Giclee

I was out for a drink the other night with my friend(see pic of blonde a few posts down...the one where my head is MIA). Shes a decently talented artist, and I had asked her to make a piece for my house...so we ended up out picking up supplies. I had asked another friend to do the very same awhile ago, but has yet to produce much... and I had offered her $300. So, when this good friend said I just needed to get the supplies I jumped at it. The supplies alone were 90 bucks, but that was better then the other offer...whos the better painter?? well...Id just say different styles.

Point of my gibberish = I saw a girl from highschool that night whom I had not seen in about 5 years +...It was the typical small talk catch-up convo that comes pretty much standard between reunions of middle class young North American adults.

What was new was the ring flash....She had obviously gotten married and did the hand waving, then hand to mouth, and before it got worse I just flat out asked...

"So did you get married?"

Hahaha...Just weird to run into people and hear about this totally new life they are in.

****Another artistic Sidenote*****

This is my good friends website where he sells his art.

37 Degrees of separation

A tale of mixed nuts:

I randomly ended up at a house party held by the old student president of my University? The party was great, so needless to say I didnt spring out of bed ready to embrace the day and all the splendor it held instore for me. This was unfortunate because I had plans to go see my cousin race in a 30km marathon. She made the switch from hockey to running when she missed the olympic cut I think. Anyways, shes an amazing althlete...

This weekend was the Around the Bay race, which has been held every year in Hamilton since 1894. There is actually a movie involving this annual event in the "armpit" of Canada. hahaha. While doing some reading up on this race I stumbled upon that phrase. I laughed pretty hard at it. Anyways, the movie is called Saint Ralph. Its the story of a young boy growing up in Hamilton in the 1950's. The boy has a troubled life, but finds something he was looking for in running. His dream is to win the Boston marathon, and after winning the Around the Bay race he goes on to race in Boston. The connection here is that my Dads boss, and family friends son, did the score for the movie. Random.....

My cousin placed well last year, so I had hoped to get some pics of her running in this years event. Well....how the F was I suppose to know you can run 30K in under 2 hours. hahahaha. The event started at 9. So I figured if I strolled in around 11:30 Id get the right balance of sleep vs picture taking goodness. Well....I f'ed up. I missed her by like half an hour. ahahhaha.

Oh and..

SHE WON THE GOD DAMN THING....

News Flash

Here's a post dedicated to 51% of the hourly guys in my plant:

Small tid-bit for you to digest when your deciding between the KD or the Mr.noodles because you've been unemployed for two months...(yes this resembles my diet...piss off):

Theres a country....its pretty big....you might have heard of it...they are fighting to keep their GDP from soaring over 25% while we are trying to get ours to increase above 3...not ringing a bell??

***************** CHINA ******************

It looks pretty good that this strike will proceed here at my plant starting Monday morning...What are they fighting for?? A sunset clause. Whats that? Its a clause that says workers are allowed to fuck around on the job. It basically means your slate is wiped clean after one year. So you could punch out a supervisor, have it go to arbitration for like a year, then have your shit cleared by the time its resolved. There's some other outrageous demands and a few realistic ones that have been granted. The stumbling block is the sunset clause....Which management wont give on.

What makes the union so sure the management will cave???

We just bought a company from the States and moved it up here to Burlington. Along with that, loads of new modifications have been done to the building. They feel that the management has no choice but to give into the union because there's no way the company will move their operations now...

Remember that country I mentioned before???? Ya well, The global head of this company is about a stones throw away from shipping the whole f'ing plant over to china and saying to hell with us.

Idiots...

2nd times a charm?

A few years ago....and believe me it sickens me to have to say a few years ago...I was doing some traveling after school. I had come to rest in Cairns Australia where I found work in a local coffee shop. I also found some odd jobs in the hostel I was staying at to get free room and board. It was a pretty sweet set up and I was loving life there. It all changed very quickly when I meet this Norwegian girl named Marita.

She had been traveling around with some guy...Over a pint one afternoon she said something about Thailand...That night I decided to quit my jobs, sell my van, and F off my free ticket home to fly off to Thailand with this girl I didn't even really know...This guy was not impressed with me when I came to get her stuff. ahahhaahhaha

Anyways, over there was a bloody fairy tale....no two ways about it. Straight out of a story book...

On the last day there we were strolling the markets looking for gifts to bring home when I had a brain-fart. I decided to let some weird Arab guy tell me my fortune. He lured me down some back alley that seemed to keep going and bending, and going and twisting...I thought what the hell, why not... It was cool though. The guy read my mind three times...then proceeded to tell me my future. I did not like what he had to say. Most of it was true about my personality...but the future part I did not enjoy hearing. I was going to live a long life, I was going to have all the material things I needed and wanted, but I was going to be alone for a long long time....Great....Just f'ing great...Guess that means this fairy tale Im in right now isnt going to last....haha and it didn't. She came to Canada once to see me and then it was like shit or get off the pot...well...I didn't move to Norway.

This weekend out of the blue I heard about a physic convention going on in Hamilton. I stopped by and got my fortune told through tarot cards. This one was also pretty amazing....This lady was dead on with a lot of stuff...and had some interesting things to say:

1st card: I have something or someone in my life that I need to deal with right away

2nd card: I am having the best sex Ive ever had....no comment. hahaha

3rd card: I am a warrior, people think they know me, but no one ever gets to know the real me. I will accomplish great things once I finally start believing in myself as others do. I am my own worst enemy. (hummm shit)

4th card: I take all stress inwards, I have way too much of it for someone my age and if I dont start focusing that negative energy outside it will turn into health problems like an ulcer...Great

5th card: Something about something really good happening to me in the next two months. Work related...wont get into it.

After the cards she asked if I had any questions...I asked the old age thing just to see what she had to say about it. She asked me to pull a card from the deck...I pulled the growth card...she predicted 85. I can handle that...Second question I asked was the one about being alone...I forget what the card was, but she said I would grow up to be a great family man with the prospect of having great grandchildren in my lifetime...

So ya....there was a bunch more, but thats the just of it....I liked it much better this time.

hahaha so the moral of the story is, if you dont like the answers your given, just keep going back until you do. ahahahah

Number!!!49!!!!

St.Patricks Day....

I could just stop the post there....but might as well explain as Im on hold with Expedia travel and will be here for quite sometime...

Started off at Slaintes for a couple pints around 5ish...The pub was rammed with green everything...They gear up for this day by setting up a huge tent outside with kegs so people can drink while they wait to get into the bar. I had a friend get to the pub around noon so he nabbed me a ticket. Had this not have happened I would have been outside in the tent for several hours. I did see one funny thing while I was in there....biggest bar star ever....this girl was bombed and chatting up every guy that would look her way. She was cute, and seemed like fun, but wow....what an attention seeking little slut....ahhaha

After the pub is where the fun started...headed over to the stag and doe at which point no more driving was going to be done....BRING ON THE BOOZE!!!

As soon as I had my first beer I knew I was going to be a one man party....in a super good mood, lots of good friends around, St.pattys day, joyous occasion...a recipe for a good time. Plus, the live band was awesome....

At one point I ended up in the parking lot with an unnamed acquaintance doing things not normally done at said functions. ahhaha.

Anyways...

a little later on I felt the sudden urge to monkey latch myself around my buddy...he was not ready for this.....we toppled over like a ton of bricks smashing into a table sending beer bottles crashing to the floor...It was a golden moment in my life....Im not sure everyone shared my view of the incident...but whatever....

Watching the sun come up while drinking is officially not cool anymore....

I got out of bed at 6pm Saturday...

Terrible...

Its gonna be a GONG SHOW!!!

Im writing a pre-St.Pattys day post as I already know what will happen...and I will be hungover until Sunday...

With the onset of such a day I am going to do my best to prepare myself for the festivities.

A)I will wear nice clothes, but not like my favorite shirt or anything....

Ai)Boxers will be worn as Im sure I'll lose my pants at some point.

B)All important pieces of ID will be left at home...

C)My watch is also going to stay at home...

Ci)This is already MIA come to think of it from another night of drinking...so when I get it back tomorrow, I will THEN leave it at home...

D)I will bring out 100 bucks, and leave my credit cards and bank cards at home...

E)**** My cell phone is going to be left at home***** I cant stress this one enough as I turn into the drunken telephone bandit when I have that thing.

Yes, these are all vital to me enjoying the day without causing more injury then what my liver will endure.

Im going to hit up my home away from home around 4ish, that being my Irish pub around the corner...After that it's off to a Stag and Doe for a couple who just happen to be Irish...go figure...Its going to be a shit show....

I already hate Saturday morning...

THIS TIME....ITS WAR!!!

Alright men, now there is no reason to be fighting, we don't deserve anything, but GOD DAMMIT WERE GONNA WIN!!!

My plant is unionized....It has a few decent workers, and a few idiots...As does every single plant in the entire world. I hate unions...They served a purpose 69 years ago when people use to owe more money at the end of the day to the company store, then they took home hauling out number nine coal. Today?? Not so fucking much...I have worked for the Ford Motor company...Never in my life have I seen such an abuse of power...Stelco is going down the shitter, while Dofasco is a finacially sound company...This could be a book if I got started, but I'll stop here. My idiot workers have voted for a strike...What this means for me? No idea yet....March 27th will be an interesting day...

In other news, I started my studies last night at the local universities library....Found out I have the attention span of a hamster....I started skipping titles, words, sentences, and eventually paragraphs to get to the end of the chapters I was suppose to read...Being back on a campus is kinda fun though.

After the library I came home to watch a flick. My bro was in charge of getting the vid and he came up with this....

Sweet mother of god, Do not rent this movie....Worst bit of acting I have seen in a long time....Yes there was some "rowdy" sex scenes, which Im sure some of my readers feel is enough to make a movie bearable...But God Dammit!!! I refuse to turn movies off, however I was really close on this one....

Oh, and the movie Just Friends??...Ya, at one point I was laughing so hard I dropped my phone and it exploded...

There....new post for ya. ahahah.

Told ya....

I was on the radio.....ahhahahaha. It sounds like I was trying to pick her up.

That was Gay!!!

Three things:

1) I rent movies from my local blockbuster ALL the time....I love movies. I watch at least 10 a month. I have no television channels so film is all I have. Anyways, there's one guy that works there who is definitely gay. Last night as I was going to pay for the movie he motioned to the other girl working to take the first customer, and he would help me. This was odd, because it was out of sequence...As Im renting the movie he notices I have late fees...He waves these for me?!?! Then proceeds to give me the latest blockbuster publication about the film industry...

"Not just anybody gets one of these you know...they are like 5 bucks on the news stands"

"ok..thanks"

WTF!?!?!

2)The movie I ended up getting...It was so terrible that I couldn't even remember the name every time someone asked me what I watched last night. I think it was something about the truth lies beneath or something...Kevin Bacon was the leading actor. Anyways, the whole story ends up being based around the fact that Kevin Bacons partner, in his two man act, wanted to be his "partner" ahahah. GAY.

>

3)The first preview to this movie was introduced by something to the effect of "People don't like gay people"..."They are uncomfortable with the idea"..."As soon as they find out somethings gay they turn it off, or switch gears completely"..."Being a gay guywhoizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" Fast forward 16x. ahahhaha. Just made me laugh after I fast forwarded the preview and thought about what they were saying...the movie was about something gay and I immediately tuned out...

I have no problem with gay people...Do whatever makes you happy....

You can give me all the free movies you want too....Just don't expect much in return.

Ahhhh Bronchitis

This week has been a complete write-off due to the onset of Bronchitis. Felt terrible Sunday night, and come Monday I was coughing up the yummy good stuff. I had no desire to go out Monday night, but had my arm twisted. After a few pints I decided I wasnt going to work Tuesday...So I got tuned and took Tuesday off...didnt feel like going to work Wednesday either...so I took Wednesday off too. ahhahahah.

What did I do with my time off? Well...I did the usual stuff like rent movies, bum around the house, sleep, shop, etc...

I did one cool thing though..

My great grandfather use to own a hat shop in downtown Hamilton. Read great grandfather...this store was F'ing old. He was the go to guy in the town for top hats and "whathaveyous"...the Mad Hatter. Too funny.

The store was purchased by the Dilar family who wanted to expand its business being run out of Niagara falls(USA)at the time. The Dilars kept the Macnamara name as it already had a good reputation in the area. So to this day the store remains, but has changed locations once to King St.

On my day off I took a stroll over to the store to pop my head in and say hello. The Dilar desendants still own and operate the store. It was like a a blast from the past.

The store has since changed from hats and repairs to just leather repairs, and seems to be going nowhere soon.

Kinda neat...
